Acassia Arnaud is a Masters of Science thesis student at the University of Ottawa. Under the supervision of Dr. Gita Ghiasi, she is researching the relationship between national policies about AI and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Her other research interests include AI governance and ethics, science and technology policy, Canadian politics, general purpose technologies, Canadian economic sovereignty, and AI and data sovereignty.
Acassia is an active member of the AI governance, Canadian political, and broader science policy communities. She is a member of the analyst team at AI Governance and Safety (AIGS) Canada, and of CRAiEDL’s Policy Accelerator. In both roles Acassia participates in AI governance and policy research, and public consultation response. She is keenly interested in the intersection of politics, policy, society, and technology which is reflected in her involvement and research.
